Mineral Fertilizer Distribution and the Environment

This publication is the third in the IFA/UNEP series of Mineral Fertilizers and the Environment. The first concerned Fertilizer Production and the Environment (1998), the second Fertilizer Use and the Environment (1998) and this publication completes the chain from factory to farm by dealing with the distribution sector. The purpose of this document is to describe the complexities involved in the distribution of fertilizers, to encourage fertilizer producers to accept their responsibility as stewards of their products, and in the hope that the relevant authorities will pay more attention to this crucial link in the development of a globally sustainable agriculture.
