IFA unveils Innovation Hub program and startup competition to drive agricultural advancements

Barcelona, Spain, April 1, 2025

The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) is proud to announce the launch of the IFA Innovation Hub , a strategic initiative aimed at fostering innovation within the plant nutrition sector and addressing critical global food security and sustainability challenges.

A cornerstone of the Innovation Hub, the Cultivate Challenge startup competition, also launches today. This competition seeks to identify and accelerate entrepreneurial talent worldwide, focusing on high-priority topics for the global fertilizer industry. Startups are invited to apply for the 12-month challenge, with successful applicants receiving a comprehensive support package.

To facilitate connections between startups and industry, IFA has developed an online Innovation Platform featuring a bespoke startup database. This platform allows startups to showcase their expertise and operations, while corporates and investors can identify relevant and active startups globally.

By bridging the gap between groundbreaking ideas and practical implementation, IFA aims to create an environment where innovative solutions can have a tangible impact.

IFA invites startups, researchers, and interested parties to engage with the Innovation Hub by:

  • Registering on the IFA online Innovation Platform;
  • Applying for upcoming IFA competitions and awards;
  • Participating in IFA’s conferences and webinars on innovation;
  • Following IFA on social media for program updates, progress reports, and exciting innovation content.

For those looking to make a more significant impact, joining IFA as a member offers additional opportunities to network with leading plant nutrition solution providers and shape the future of agriculture.

Alzbeta Klein, CEO/Director General of IFA, stated,

"We are proud to launch the IFA Innovation Hub, Cultivate Challenge, and online Innovation Platform today at our inaugural Cultivating Tomorrow Conference in Barcelona. This new initiative represents our commitment to inspiring and rewarding those who bring plant nutrition science and innovation to life and supports initiatives that have the potential to make large-scale positive change possible. I am excited to see how the Innovation Hub will drive and create lasting impact in the field of plant nutrition."
