What does the award recognize?
- The IFA Science Innovation Award recognizes individuals or teams who have successfully turned scientific breakthroughs or innovative approaches into practical applications within the realm of novel fertilizers.
- It highlights solutions that significantly advance fertilizer efficiency, sustainability, and agricultural productivity. This inaugural award celebrates innovations incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as biodegradable coatings, nano-technologies, inhibitors, and smart fertilizers. By acknowledging these achievements, the award fosters progress in sustainable practices, addressing critical challenges in global agriculture and promoting environmentally sound solutions.
Eligibility
The award is open to scientists, researchers, and startup entrepreneurs developing novel fertilizers that align with the outlined scope. Submissions must demonstrate originality, sustainability, scalability, and feasibility. Applicants are encouraged to include supporting evidence such as patents, research, and field trials.
Nomination Procedure and Selection
Applications must be submitted to IFA by January 31, 2025.
What is the Application Process?
Applicants must complete a detailed application form, including descriptions of their innovation’s novelty, sustainability, and practical implementation. The submission must outline the scientific foundation, benefits, and scalability of the solution, supported by optional documentation such as patents, research papers, or case studies. Applicants may provide up to five supporting documents to strengthen their submission. Completed applications must be submitted by the deadline via the digital form provided.
Summary of the Evaluation Process
A panel of experts in science, sustainability, and industry will evaluate submissions based on three weighted criteria:
- Novelty, assessing originality and advancement;
- Sustainability & Scalability, evaluating environmental, social, and economic impacts;
- Practical Implementation, analyzing applicability and adoption. Evidence such as field trials, adoption rates, and scalability potential will inform the decision. Finalists represent transformative innovations that demonstrate real-world impact.
