What collaboration are we looking for?
SK Leaveo’s biodegradable solution is primarily targeting the European market, where the ban on non-biodegradable CRF coatings will take effect in Oct 2028. With rising global concerns over microplastics, it is essential alternative with high potential to expand worldwide, to develop sustainable farming practices creating synergy to reduce carbon footprint.
SK Leaveo’s innovative technology is based on the biodegradable polymer design associating different factors in the polymerization process such as temperature, moisture, and microbial activity to precisely control nutrient diffusion and meet the biodegradability requirements at the same time. Different kinds of grades with adapted performance can be provided for different crops in different regions and countries.
In addition, PBAT can reflect various copolymerization design technologies, which enables uniformity of the coating layer and strong adhesion of the fertilizer and the coating layer in the fertilizer coating process. This uniformity enables consistent and precise nutrient release, maximizing crop absorption efficiency and enhancing overall performance.

SK leaveo was established in 2022 as a strategic green materials subsidiary under SK Group, aiming to lead global biodegradable solutions based on PBAT and other sustainable polymers. SK leaveo was founded and majority-funded by SKC, a core SK Group company. Initial capital injection estimated at over KRW 100 billion (~USD 75M) and capital focused on establishing production infrastructure in Vietnam and Korea, especially for biodegradable polymer resins. SK leaveo aim to establish mass production capacity for PBAT-based core resins, drive joint innovation with global partners in agriculture, non-woven and packaging.
