Dr. Gonzalo Rizzo
Dr. Gonzalo Rizzo is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Crop Production at the Faculty of Agronomy, University of the Republic, Uruguay. His research focuses on sustainable intensification of cropping systems, with an emphasis on nutrient management, yield gap analysis, and climate change adaptation. Dr. Rizzo’s work combines farmer data, crop modeling, and field experimentation to uncover yield-limiting factors and inform science-based agricultural policy. He has published in leading journals such as Nature Food and PNAS, and his research has influenced national and global programs on plant nutrition and climate resilience. At University of the Republic, he leads research projects and teaches on the use of crop models for cropping systems design.
