HydGene is pioneering decentralised, low-carbon hydrogen production from agricultural residues and organic waste to enable sustainable ammonia and nitrogen fertiliser production. Our proprietary biocatalyst platform converts sugars derived from biomass into hydrogen without electrolysis, using feedstocks such as straw, food processing residues, and sewage sludge. HydGene has successfully demonstrated the full pathway from biomass-derived hydrogen through to ammonia production. The modular deployment model enables on-site hydrogen generation integrated with ammonia synthesis, supporting regional fertiliser production, circular agricultural systems, and reduced reliance on fossil gas and centralised supply chains.

Your IFA Innovation Platform Profile

What collaboration are we looking for?

HydGene is now progressing demonstration and commercial deployment activities for its biomass-to-hydrogen technology. We are seeking fertilizer and ammonia partners interested in integrating low-carbon hydrogen into ammonia production systems, alongside partners with access to agricultural or food processing residues for pilot and commercial deployment projects. We are also seeking strategic partners interested in regional fertiliser production, industrial decarbonisation, and offtake opportunities

What solutions and opportunities are we offering?

HydGene offers modular technology for on-site hydrogen production from agricultural residues and organic waste. Our biocatalyst platform enables integration of low-carbon hydrogen into ammonia production systems, supporting decentralised fertiliser manufacturing and reduced reliance on fossil gas. We also offer technical collaboration opportunities for biomass conversion, hydrogen deployment, and low-carbon ammonia production.
