FAO – IFA Webinar Advancing Nutrient Recovery and Recycling in Agriculture

FAO and the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) held on 15 December 2021 the third webinar of their Sustainable Plant Nutrition Series: “Advancing nutrient recycling and recovery”. Nutrient recovery and recycling from different biowaste streams is a rapidly growing component of sustainable food systems that follow circular economy principles. A key requirement is that recycled nutrients should be obtained with equal or better environmental performance than primary nutrients they would replace, and should meet the same safety standards. Exciting innovations are taking place in this area, but there are also many barriers to overcome. The webinar explored some of the main opportunities and challenges posed by nutrient recovery and recycling, and present key technologies and innovations shaping the sector.
