SusPhos
SusPhos is a cleantech company based in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, that has developed a patented technology for recovering and recycling phosphate from municipal sewage sludge ash. Through its innovative process, SusPhos transforms what was previously considered a waste stream into multiple market-ready products, including its core products: Phoenix SSPlus, drop-in alternative to single superphosphate fertilizer, and Phoenix Bond, a sustainable cement replacement material.
By applying the principles of urban mining, SusPhos not only recovers valuable resources from waste without generating secondary waste streams such as filter cake or wastewater, but also contributes significantly to CO₂ emissions reduction by introducing carbon-neutral alternatives for traditionally carbon-intensive industries like fertilizers and construction materials.

What collaboration are we looking for?
We are seeking offtake partners for our phosphate fertilizer raw materials and carbon neutral granulation enhancer product, as well as strategic collaborations to support market entry and expansion in Europe, with particular attention to the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). This market presents a significant opportunity, as phosphorus recovery from municipal sewage sludge ash is becoming mandatory, with regulations taking effect in Switzerland in 2026, Germany in 2029, and Austria in 2033.
These regulatory developments create strong potential for the deployment of new SusPhos phosphate recovery technology and for scaling the production of our circular, sustainable phosphate fertilizer products. In addition, we are open to research and innovation partnerships to explore new feedstocks for the SusPhos process, further expanding its environmental and commercial impact.
