NUNATAK BIOTECH
Nunatak Biotech is a biotechnology startup harnessing extremophilic microbes from Antarctica and other harsh environments to develop next-generation bioinputs for agriculture. Our microbial consortia are designed to improve crop performance under abiotic stress—such as salinity and drought—by enhancing resilience, nutrient uptake, and soil health.
We bridge the gap between chemical and biological solutions, offering scalable, compatible, and effective technologies for sustainable farming. Our R&D platform combines microbiology, plant science, and synthetic ecology to identify and formulate robust microbial communities tailored to specific crop and soil challenges.

What collaboration are we looking for?
We are seeking collaboration and support in the following areas:
Field validation and scale-up of our microbial bioinputs in diverse agroecological zones.
Regulatory guidance and market access strategies for international expansion.
Co-development partnerships with fertilizer or input companies to create integrated solutions combining biologicals and conventional products.
Investment and strategic support to accelerate product development and commercialization.
R&D collaboration for testing microbial consortia performance under abiotic stress (e.g., salinity, drought) and in synergy with existing fertilizers.
What solutions and opportunities are we offering?
We offer collaboration and support in the following areas:
Development of microbial solutions tailored to specific crops, soils, or stress conditions (e.g., salinity, drought).
Co-creation of bio-fertilizer or biostimulant products that are compatible with conventional inputs.
Microbial screening and formulation expertise using extremophiles from unique environments such as Antarctica.
Joint field trials and data generation to validate product performance and regulatory compliance.
Open innovation partnerships to integrate biologicals into broader sustainability and input strategies.

Intellectual property & regulation
What is the IP status of your innovation(s)?
We are currently finalizing a provisional patent application to protect our core technology. Filing is planned in the short term as part of our IP strategy to safeguard our microbial consortia and their agricultural applications.
What regulatory approvals are you currently seeking, or have already been achieved?
We are currently pursuing two parallel regulatory pathways for our microbial bioinputs:
One under a framework that requires multi-season field validation trials, with an estimated approval timeline of approximately 2 years.
A second route that allows for faster registration without field trials, typically completed in around 6 months.
This dual approach enables us to accelerate initial market entry while building a robust validation pipeline for broader, long-term commercialization.
