Regional Hub for Fertilizer and Soil Health for West Africa and the Sahel
The Regional Hub focuses on West Africa and the Sahel, specifically providing technical assistance to ECOWAS countries, including Mauritania and Chad. The 15 member countries are Benin, Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Mauritania, and Chad.
Launched in 2024, the Hub addresses challenges of soil health
and sustainable fertilizer use. It unites stakeholders such
as the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA),
International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC), OCP Africa,
African Plant Nutrition Institute (APNI), University Mohammed
VI Polytechnic (UM6P), and the World Bank through the
Accelerating Impacts of CGIAR Climate Research for Africa
(AICCRA) project.
The Hub aligns with the Roadmap for Fertilizer and Soil Health.

What collaboration are we looking for?
The Hub implements priority functions, including technical assistance for ongoing and upcoming fertilizer and soil health investments. It facilitates coordinated implementation of the AU Action Plan in West Africa and the Sahel. The Hub will establish a fully equipped unit (expertise, tools, and assets) to enable the delivery of technical assistance to fertilizer and soil health-related investments in countries of West Africa and the Sahel. Partner with the hub in the implementation of The Hub’s primary objective is to support the development and implementation of investments related to fertilizer and soil for the 17 countries of West Africa and the Sahel. Based on consultations, the Hub provides technical assistance through 20 specific functions focused on

What solutions and opportunities are we offering?
The Hub continues to engage with member countries by supporting their National Technical Teams to strengthen national soil and fertilizer systems. These efforts ensure harmonized data standards, promote evidence-based decision-making, and facilitate joint planning processes across countries.
The Hub is continuously looking for partnerships and collaborations that will drive the delivery of Hub’s core functions aligned to the country investment plans in West Africa and the Sahel.
