IFA is hiring

Sustainable Fertilizer Academy

Sustainability Education Coordinator

March 2022

Position Overview

The International Fertilizer Association (IFA), the only global fertilizer association, is seeking a full-time Sustainability Education Coordinator to join its dynamic and multicultural team that supports the fertilizer industry’s increasing focus on helping to feed the world sustainably.

This full-time position will coordinate all activities related to IFA’s virtual Sustainable Fertilizer Academy, which will open mid-2022. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a start-up venture that combines e-learning technology with a world-class sustainable business curriculum.

IFA and its members see sustainability as an opportunity as well as a challenge.

Governments and the private sector are increasingly under scrutiny, as concerns about the planet and the role of industries and businesses in contributing to solutions are increasing, and citizen movements are exerting greater influence. In addition, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors play a greater role in investment decisions and how money is allocated within societies. In this context, it is essential for businesses to focus on sustainability as a key business driver of opportunities and risks – current and future.

Through this academy, IFA plans to provide a platform for a unique e-learning experience where industry professionals will learn about sustainability in all its facets, from sourcing, through production, to use of fertilizer products on the farm. It is expected that IFA’s 400 members from 70 countries will enroll more than 100 students every year.

The academy’s Sustainability Education Coordinator position can be performed remotely, with occasional travel to IFA’s global headquarters in Paris, France. EU nationality or work permit is required if the candidate wishes to be based in Paris.

Main Duties

Under the supervision of IFA’s Sustainability Director, the coordinator will play a key role in the academy’s success. His/her main tasks include:

  • Promoting the academy to selected contacts in member companies, working with IFA’s Communication and Marketing team.
  • Independently answering enquiries about the academy and its classes.
  • Supporting academy students during onboarding and ensuring steady progress during their studies until graduation.
  • Building and developing an alumni community through tools such as a launch of a dedicated LinkedIn group and organizing networking events at IFA’s Annual Conference.
  • Analyzing the academy’s performance metrics and suggesting improvements.
  • Working with IFA colleagues to ensure the academy is fully integrated in the association’s strategy.
  • Engaging with the academy’s dedicated working group of member companies to ensure that the classes continue to cover all of their sustainability needs.
  • Ensuring flawless functioning of the academy’s e-Platform with help from IFA’s IT team.

Required Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant professional experience. Knowledge of sustainable development, fertilizers and agriculture is a plus.
  • Proven project and relationship management skills.
  • Fluency in English (the working language of IFA). Working knowledge of French and other languages would be beneficial.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Excellent public speaking skills in English.
  • Advanced computer literacy (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, project management software) and social media skills including LinkedIn.
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural context.
  • Ability to travel internationally a couple of times a year.
