A compilation of graphs and diagrams illustrate the development
in different regions of the world of the capacities, production,
consumption and trade of nitrogen, phosphate and potash
fertilizers, and certain important intermediates and raw
materials. The development of world cereal production and stocks
and the crops on which fertilizers are used, is also
illustrated.
The assessments are based on various statistics prepared by IFA and, in
the case of cereals, on the FAO's "Food Outlook". More detailed
statistics are prepared by IFA but are normally restricted to members of
the Association.
Phosphate and potash may be expressed as their elemental forms P & K, or
as their oxide forms P2O5 and K2O. In
the "Indicators" the oxide form is used. Nitrogen is always expressed as
elemental N.
