Strategies for FBMP adoption
One of the challenges for the widespread adoption of FBMPs is conveying the right messages at the right time to a wide range of agricultural producers under varied conditions. Adoption of FBMPs depends on many factors such as characteristics of the farms, its operators and their educational levels, the outputs, sales, and income as well as geographical location, accessibility to information and technologies. Another challenge is ensuring adequate scientific data available for the establishment of recommendations for FBMPs.
The fertilizer industry has made the initiative to promote the adoption of FBMPs especially in developing countries where they are currently weakest. It has taken steps to facilitate the development and use of site-specific and/or region-specific FBMPs. National and regional communications and extension entities such as government agricultural agencies, research institutes, and associations are vital instruments for the dissemination of FBMPs.
