IFA Norman Borlaug Award

     

This Award is offered every year to an individual for work that has led to significant progress in crop nutrition and that has been communicated successfully to the farmer in the form of practical recommendations.

The applicants are judged on the basis of quality, originality and long-term impact of their work.

Any individual researcher or extensionist whose work concerns the use of fertilizers, from the public or private sector, is eligible for nomination by an IFA member.


 

The IFA Award alternates along a 4-year cycle as follows:

2012
Knowledge transfer award for developing countries and countries in transition

2013
Research award for developing countries

2014
Knowledge transfer award for developing countries

2015
Research award for developed countries and IARCSs

 
     
  The ‘IFA International Crop Nutrition Award’ has been renamed ‘IFA Norman Borlaug Award’ in recognition of Dr Borlaug’s outstanding and tireless contribution to fighting hunger all over the world. Dr Borlaug is considered the ‘Father of the Green Revolution’ and received the 1970 Nobel Peace Prize. He was a strong supporter of the fertilizer industry, demonstrating the vital links between science, technology, extension and agricultural production.
