The IFA International Crop Nutrition Award is
offered every year to an individual for research that has led to a significant
advance in the efficiency of fertilizer use and that has been communicated
successfully to the farmer in the form of practical recommendations.
The applicants are judged on the basis of originality and practical application.
Preference is given to an approach which takes account of all the relevant
factors, such as soil fertility, crop management and the use of other inputs,
leading to improvements in fertilizer use efficiency.
Any individual researcher whose
work concerns the use of fertilizers, from the public or private sector is
eligible for nomination by an IFA member.
The Award alternates each year
between research relating to conditions in industrialized and developing
countries.
Information on the nomination
process will be posted in September 2008.
