STATISTICS
The collection and compilation of primary market data, and the provision of high-quality market analysis , are among IFA's principal missions. Access to these data and analyses are major benefits of IFA membership .
The IFA Agriculture Committee and the IFA Production and International Trade Committee are responsible for providing supply and demand analyses concerning fertilizer consumption and supply and trade, on a regular basis.
Primary data on capacity, production and trade are compiled for a range of mainstream fertilizer products, intermediates and raw materials. Consumption figures are also collected. Professional forecasts of demand, supply and derived supply/demand balances are produced for the major plant nutrients.
To obtain access to this data, IFA’s committees work in close partnership with all of the Association’s members and correspondents in more than 60 countries.
We recommend that you consult the FAQ and IFA's copyright policy before accessing the data.
You can also access the conversion tables (measures, nutrient content, etc...).
IFADATAThe IFA database – which contains historical fertilizer production, trade and consumption statistics by product and by country since 1973/74 (IFADATA) – is online. In the new searchable, web-based version, all figures are available with only a couple of clicks. IFA members have access to the full database. Non-IFA members have access to the full database for fertilizer consumption, but access to production and trade statistics is restricted to nutrient aggregates ("Total" in the database menu). Fertilizer Supply StatisticsTo access PIT online statistics Online production, exports, imports, for nitrogen, phosphates, potash and sulphur products from 1999 to 2008 (calendar year) by region.
To access online statistical reports
Starting in 2009, 2009 quarterly and 2008 annual statistical reports are available online for IFA members only. This initiative applies only to reports issued in 2009 and forward. More information on the statistical programme of the PIT Committee (PDF format) (Updated: 2 March 2010) |

Fertilizer Use by Crop (FUBC)Fully understanding the contribution of the different crop types to fertilizer use at national, regional and global levels is a prerequisite to the development of sound fertilizer demand forecasts. IFA gathers information on fertilizer use by crop in the main fertilizer-consuming countries. IFA's Assessment currently covers 23 countries (considering the EU-27 as a single country), which account together for more than 90% of world fertilizer consumption, making it possible to analyze fertilizer use by crop type at the global level. Specialty fertilizersTo access the database on the market for specialty fertilizers (PDF & Excel formats) The IFA Secretariat has developed a database on the market for specialty fertilizers, which currently covers 29 countries. The database includes information on the harvested area of the main target crops, and the area under different kinds of protected agriculture and under different types of irrigation systems.
