Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd (RCF) - winner of the IFA 2017 Green Leaf Award


 

Paris, France, 31 March 2017 – The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) is pleased to announce Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilisers Ltd (RCF) as the winner of the IFA 2017 Green Leaf Award for Excellence in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) in Fertilizer Production.

RCF is an Indian ammonia and urea producer whose Thal Unit distinguished itself in SHE management. According to the Award’s independent jury, RFC has shown sustained excellence in SHE performance over time and scored highly on all performance indicators in and beyond factory gates.

RCF was presented with the Award during IFA’s Global Safety Summit, which took place on 27-30 March 2017 in Amman, Jordan.

Mr. Ravidra Jawale, Executive Director of RCF said: “It’s an honour to receive this distinction. This prestigious Award recognizes our commitment to safety, health and the environment, as well as our employees’ dedication and hard work”.

IFA’s Director General, Charlotte Hebebrand also commented: “IFA is delighted to be giving this Award to RCF this year. We feel that their performance is a true example of product stewardship, and we congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition.”

The runners up to the Green Leaf Award were also celebrated during the ceremony: the first runner up was Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited, Pakistan; the second runner up was Shriram Fertilizers & Chemicals, India, and the Best Progression Award (2015-2017) was given to Engro Fertilizer Company, Pakistan.



Since 2009, the IFA Green Leaf Award recognizes on a bi-annual basis an outstanding SHE performance in fertilizer production among the Association’s membership. The Award forms an integral part of IFA’s Protect & Sustain product stewardship initiative. Product stewardship is an important component in fertilizer producers’ SHE management strategy: promoting solid management of safety, health, environmental and security aspects up and down the supply chain.
