About the IFA Norman Borlaug Award
- The International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) has granted this award annually since 1993, to individuals whose research has led to significant advances in crop nutrition. IFA also places emphasis on last-mile delivery and recognizes that research alone is not enough to achieve meaningful progress at the farm level. Therefore the winners of the IFA Norman Borlaug Award have also achieved effective knowledge transfer, resulting in a wider adoption of improved nutrient management practices. Professor Tekalign Mamo was nominated by ICL Fertilizers, and was chosen from six shortlisted candidates.
